National youth day observed across the state

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Along with the rest of the country, the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was observed on Thursday throughout the state in a befitting manner.

In Itanagar, Vivekananda Kendra, Arunachal Prant, VKV Itanagar and Vivek Vihar jointly observed the day at VKV, Itanagar which saw the attendance of more than 300 participants.

The drama team from Doimukh and dance team from Kargu Gamgi, Itanagar bagged the best team awards.

Speaking on the occasion, ZPM Borum Techi Tolu said that Swami Vivekananda not only inspired the youth of India but the whole world.

Prant Karyalaya Pramukh, Vivekananda Kendra, Arunachal Prant Taba Tatup briefed on the importance of preserving the age old cultural practices in the midst of globalization and advent of western influence in the traditional beliefs, faith and culture.

At VKV Nirjuli, the celebration began with a procession participated by students, teachers, well- wishers and people from all walks of life.

The celebration also saw performances of patriotic song, drama and dance etc. A skit performance by the tiny tots was the highlight of the day.

At Yingkiong, District Level Traditional Dance & Drama Competition was organized on the occasion in which Jengging Gangging Party won the Dance competition while Simar Ponung bagged the prize in Drama Competition.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Remo Kamki urged the people to imbibe the vision and ideas of Swami Vivekanandaji saying that his philosophy is still relevant today. He advised students to learn good things and also master computer handling saying it is a necessity in present day life.

At Aalo, around 1500 participants led by Secretary RK Mission School Swami Purnajanananda and other Swamijis, Maharajjis, teachers and students took out a procession at Aalo township.

(From P-1) At Khonsa, EAC Techu Aran called upon the youths of Tirap district in particular and Arunachal Pradesh as a whole to follow the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and the ideals for which he taught and worked and to channelize the youthful energy in positive way.

Speaking about discipline and cleanliness, EAC Aran urged the parents to keep their children away from substance abuse and inculcate discipline.

In the traditional Dance and drama competition held on the occasion, Sinnu village dance troupe was declared the winner. Turet village dance troupe bagged the runners up title.

Laho village women group won the first prize in drama competition. Second position was won by Chasa village.

A rally from R K Sarada Mission Girls' School to DC's office, Khonsa was organised by R K Sarada Mission Girls' students earlier in the morning.

The day was also observed at Donyi-Polo Vidya Niketan, Ngorlung in East Siang district where Swamini Geetananda from Mumbai suggested the young students to choose the right path for achieving success in life.

At VKV Tezu, DMO Dr. S Chai Pul asked the students to get inspired from the life and message of Swami Vivekananda.

EAC Lui Shiba also spoke on the occasion.

The Day was also observed by West Siang ICAR-KVK at Todak Basar Stadium, Basar by organizing an interactive programme with the local youths.

On the occasion, the ICAR-KVK team comprising Dr. K Suraj Singh, SMS-Plant Protection, Dr. Deepa Lal, SMS-Horticulture, Debashis Datta, SMS-Agri. Extension and Wangnem Rekhung, Programme Assistant Soil Science briefed the youths about the importance and advantages of digital payment systems through debit and credit cards, online banking etc. They were also informed about mobile applications and web based portal for TV, mobile phone balance, post-paid billing and online transaction. FFA seeks preference for local talents

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Demanding maximum preference to the local youths while producing films/documentaries/travelogues/serials for DD-Arun Prabha, Doordarshan's second channel for the north-east, the Film Federation of Arunachal (FFA) led by its president Chopa Cheda on Wednesday last submitted a memorandum to the Doordarshan Director General.

Stating that subjects related to the state are sensitive and if there is any error or mistake in any production made by outside producers, it would create repercussion among the peace loving people of state, the FFA demanded that any subject matter related to Arunachal Pradesh should be produced and directed by Arunachalee film makers only.

Arunachal being a ziro industry state, there is minimum scope of employment opportunities for the youths to earn their livelihood. Though, many youths of the state of late have embarked upon film/documentary making, however, due to lack of proper platform, they are unable to bring out their hidden talents, the federation wrote in its letter.

In other demands the FFA sought that slots reserved for Arunachal Pradesh in DD-Arun Prabha, should be provided to Arunachalee film makers only and moreover, if any proposal of Arunachal filmmakers is rejected, a chance of rectification should be given to them without being deprived.

Also calling upon DDK Itanagar to constitute a screening committee for DD-Arun Prabha where two members should be from the Film Federation of Arunachal, the federation also added that preference should be given to local films from Arunachal to be telecasted every Saturday under DD-Arun Prabha.

Putting forward its demands, the FFA at the same time also welcomed the gesture on the part of DDK which it hoped would enable the indigenous tribal youths of the state to expose their talents to the outside world in the entertainment sector.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Prasar Bharati, (Broadcasting Cooperation of India) which recently announced to launch DD Arun Prabha, Doordarshan's second channel for the north-east is making special efforts in North East Region (NER) to promote and nurture talent, provide a platform to deserving producers/artists from NER as well as from outside to encourage production of better programmes for Doordarshan viewers.

DD-Arun Prabha will be a 24x7 satellite Channel of Doordarshan, originating from DDK, Itanagar. Programmes on DD-Arun Prabha would show richness, variety and diversity of local culture. The channel would seamlessly integrate NER with the entire country. The channel's USP will be to attract young people of NER with contemporary entertainment shows embedded with informative content.

Traffic wardens intensify agitation

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: The impasse between agitating Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITW) and authority continues as the former held a protest rally on Thursday alleging that authority is not paying attention to their issues.

Hundreds of traffic wardens in uniform marched in the protest rally which began from Askashdeep in Ganga and culminated at Tennis Court, I G Park. The ITW launched indefinite agitation on Monday last demanding regularisation of job, enhancement of payment, ending payment deduction and 15 days casual leave annually.

Alleging that injustice is being meted out to wardens by the Chief Estate Officer (CEO) by deducting payment unjustly and unusual termination order, the wardens demanded for streamlining of the institution.

The wardens further alleged that seven wardens were removed from the service for mere absenteeism by the CEO last month; they were later re-inducted after fellow wardens registered protest.

Meanwhile, refuting the allegation CEO Talo Potom stated that deduction of payment was purely based on biometric attendance reports which the wardens themselves have opted for.

The CEO further maintained that introduction of ITW was purely on temporary basis and the wardens have no right to claim for regularisation of job stating there is written agreement wherein wardens agreed not to claim for regularisation while joining the service. "They are daily wage or master roll basis employees, so claiming for regularisation is illegitimate," Potom added.

He further termed the agitation as unnecessary and unfortunate adding that someone might have instigated the wardens. The ongoing stalemate has forced the police department to call in their personnel to manage the traffic chaos.

Meanwhile the Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) on Thursday demanded the State Government to redress the grievances of the protesting Traffic Wardens at the earliest.

The ITWs have been rendering tireless services in controlling traffic in Capital Complex since last six years though their future is hanging in balance due to alleged apathetic attitude of the authorities concerned, APYC stated in a release.

They have been rendering tireless service to the commuters for over six years but their future is not secured. The state government should rather acknowledge their services and should fulfil all their demands.

Criticizing the BJP-led Govt. for not paying any heed to the genuine demands of the traffic wardens, APYC sought the state government's intervention to sort out issue amicably.

Meanwhile, the APYC urged the ITW to resume their duty as the people of capital are facing acute traffic problem in their absence.

The Traffic Wardens were appointed during Congress regime under the leadership of Nabam Tuki in a bid to ease traffic problem in the state capital.

Ering visits Tezu Airport

TEZU, Jan 12: Member of Parliament, Ninong Ering has informed that a request has been made to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry for introducing ATR-72 aircraft services in North East, which will be later extended up to Tezu airport, when it gets operationalised.

Ering, who visited the airport on January 10 last enquired the Lohit Deputy Commissioner about its progress. He informed that there were two ATR-72 aircrafts meant for North East but these were re-allocated to South India for operation as most of the airports in the region were under construction.

Ering was informed by Lohit Deputy Commissioner, Danish Ashraf that calibration as well as test flights will be conducted as soon as the airport approach funnel is cleared. The clearance work of which is being done by the DFO, Tezu, informed Ashraf.

The Deputy Commissioner also briefed Ering about law and order situation in the district, on-going major developmental projects funded by both the union and the state government, flood related issues, efforts being made to make the district open defecation free (ODF), improvements made in health sector, particularly in Tezu general hospital.

He also informed about the opening of the Alu Bari Bridge for vehicular traffic, starting of construction works of the mini - secretariat building near the office of the Deputy Commissioner and the arrangements being made for the forthcoming Parsuram Kund Mela at Parsuram.

Meanwhile, Ering promised the Deputy Commissioner to contribute from his MPLAD Fund for construction of toilets for girls and boys in government schools and all important places in the district to facilitate in making the district open defecation free and assist in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Akas celebrate Sarok festival

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: The Sarok festival of Aka community was celebrated with traditional fervour at Bana, East Kameng district on Thursday. Addressing the huge gathering on the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary (PHE & WS), Kumsi Sidisow said that every festival gives a message of unity and brotherhood. He urged all to preserve their rich culture and tradition as it symbolises their unique identity.

While responding to a memorandum submitted by the School Managing Committee for repair of water supply system at the newly upgraded Bana Higher Secondary School besides, construction of teachers' quarter, boys and girls hostel, the Parliamentary Secretary assured to take up the matter and asked them to submit estimate with proposal at the earliest. Parliamentary Secretary (RD & Panchayat Raj), Mama Natung who was also present on the occasion, elaborated on the various schemes approved and sanctioned in the current fiscal for the area which would be undertaken soon. Among others SFCC Chairman Ashung Yame, Secretary Modhu Degio and Bhalukpong ASM Jeevan Yame also spoke on the occasion.

Political transfer alleged

DAPORIJO, Jan 12: The Charto Valley Welfare Society, Taliha has alleged political transfer of government employees of a particular community from Upper Subansiri district.

In a release, the society alleged that some of the officials of a major community of the district have been transferred without 'valid reason' and giving prior notification by some political leaders to fulfil their vested interests.

The society has further appealed to the Chief Minister to look into the matter and maintain transparency in the matter of transfer and posting of government officials.

NSCM (IM) operative held

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Continuing its intense operation against underground outfits in Arunachal Pradesh, the Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO division, apprehended one NSCN(IM) cadre from Niausa village in Longding district of the state.

Based on specific intelligence inputs, self-styled corporal of the outfit Phawang Wangsu was apprehended from the village during an operation conducted yesterday afternoon, Defence PRO Colonel C Konwer informed in a release here today. The NSCN (IM) operative was trying to terrorize and was attempting extortion in the village, the release said.

A pistol, live ammunition and opium was recovered from his possession and on interrogation he admitted allegiance to NSCN(IM) and informed he joined the outfit in 2010 and had also undergone training in a NSCN camp in Dimapur.

The security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in the state and the arrest has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area, the PRO said.

The operation has tightened the noose around the outfit and has brought relief to the local population, the release added. (PTI)

Chum Darang crowned Miss Tiara India International-2017

Pasighat, Jan 12: Chum Darang from Arunachal Pradesh was crowned Miss Tiara India international 2017 in a gala event in Mumbai on Tuesday last. Nishita Purandare was crowned Miss Tiara India globe while Cheryl Charles was crowned Miss Tiara India continental.

Chum also bagged two other titles- Miss Sports Gear and Miss Best National costume. She is the first and the only girl from Arunachal to have won a national pageant till date. Hailing from Pasighat in East Siang district, she was crowned amongst the 28 contestants coming from all over the country.

"This is like a dream come true, I would like to thank each and everyone who supported me and believed in me because without your support it wouldn't have been possible. And I hope I will make the country proud one day", Darang said while talking to this reporter over the phone.

Apart from contesting pageants, Chum has devoted herself in numerous social causes and community services like saving the environment, women empowerment which includes upliftment of girl child in the entire state. She also runs an NGO 'Guardian of blue marble' which basically works for environmental issues.

Darang had first won Miss All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) in 2010. Since then there has been no looking back. She was also crowned Miss Himalaya 2nd runners up 2015. Later on she went on to represent Arunachal in Miss Earth India 2016 and won the title of Miss Earth India water. Recently, she was also named person of the year in Fashion category by TNT- the North East Today.

Meanwhile, Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) women wing president, Yalem Taga Burang, All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU), AdiSU, Women against Social Evil (WASE) has congratulated Darang on her feat.

‘Strike balance between development and environment conservation’

ROING, Jan 12: Director (A&F) NHIDCL, MoRTH, Govt. of India, Sanjay Jaju underscored the need to strike a balance between development and environment conservation.

Attending a meeting at Deputy Commissioner's conference hall here on Thursday, Sanjay called upon executing agencies to mobilize all road projects and packages sanctioned for the district without any further delay and urged them to make collective efforts with responsibility for successful completion of all the projects.

He advocated for quality and time-bound approach at all level of project implementation and informed that a team of authority will continuously monitor the progress of the projects.

Responding to various issues like forest clearance, compensation etc., he informed that problems will be sorted out soon at Central and State Government level.

Stressing on significance of Roing-Dambuk-Pasighat road, he said that the road will connect entire district and adjoining district to state headquarters Itanagar via East Siang district.

Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner, Deepak Sindhe said that the visit of the central team in the district will hopefully expedite the process of Trans-Arunachal Highway project and address various issues relating to road construction works besides, building public confidence in other developmental activities undertaken in the district.

Earlier, Rakesh Tacho, CO (LM) highlighted all important aspects of Roing-Hunli-Anini road, Aohali- Sissiri road and Hunli-Desali-Hayuliang to Anini road.

Progressive farmers get course completion certificates

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Thirty progressive farmers of four villages, namely Napit, Kiyit, Runne and Sigar were given course completion certificates on completion of the three-month long course on piggery farming under Distance Education Programme.

The certificate course was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra East Siang, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agriculture University, Pasighat in collaboration with College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Central Agriculture University, Aizawl, Mizoram.

The main objective of the certificate course was to acquaint the progressive farmers on advancement in Piggery farming in NEH region and develop master trainers for promoting and creating awareness on piggery farming for livelihood and nutritional security.

All the participants were also provided training manual with complete information of piggery farming written in Adi language which was compiled in two modules: Eyek Farm Legape Certificate Course and Eyek Farm Legape.

The concluding session of the programme was attended by Dr. AK Pandey, Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU, Pasighat, Dr. Mahesh Pathak, Programme Coordinator KVK East Siang and subject matter specialist of the concern subject.

Awareness camp on cashless transaction

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: The Namsai Mandal unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organized an awareness camp on the theme "Less Cash to Cash Less" Digital Paisa at Manmow Village Club on January 10 last.

Namsai Mandal BJP Unit President, Chau Sengmoon Manpoong made the public aware about the aims and objectives of the awareness campaign and various methods of cashless payment.

He informed the gathering about the importance and benefits of cashless payment stating that going cashless was the most suitable weapon to fight corruption and counter black money.

He advised the masses, particularly those who have not yet opened their bank account, to open it immediately for cashless transaction. He also informed how demonetization has impacted the activities of insurgency and terrorism.

BJYM Namsai District Unit President, Chow Bramadutt Namchoom also elaborated on cashless payment options available, such as USSD, Cards & POS (Point of Sale), AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System), E-Wallet like SBI Buddy and UPI (Unified Payment Interface) the BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) App.

BJP State Executive Member, Chau Arina Manpoong informed the gathering about the recently launched "Lucky Grahak Yojana" and "Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana" for consumers and merchants/traders respectively, which aims at promoting digital payment options and increase public participation in cashless transactions.

ASST distributes solar lamp to schools

PASIGHAT, Jan 12: Deputy Commissioner, Tamiyo Tatak on behalf of Anu Shikshsa Seva Trust (ASST), Wakro handed over solar lamps to KGBVs Rayang, Pasighat, Yagrung and Doni Polo Vidya Niketan, Ngorlung in presence of Swamini Geetananda, Kape Badak (PO, APEDA) and Chairman ASSET, Wakro during a function at Siang Sadan here on Thursday.

Appreciating ASST, Wakro for providing the solar lights to educational institutions and the services they are rendering for the society, the DC advised the heads of the educational institutions to improve standard of education for overall development of the students in particular and society as a whole.

Week-long anthropological fieldwork concludes

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: The week long anthropological fieldwork of the major students of Anthropology at Saint Claret College, Ziro concluded on Tuesday last in around Mawsynram village of East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya.

17 students surveyed over 100 Khasi households, collecting data from men and women on a wide variety of issues including socio-cultural and bio-demographic aspects of the villagers based on micro studies. The students were accompanied by their supervisors, assistant professor Tame Ramya (Tarh) and assistant professor and also head of the department Bhaboklang Sohkhlet.

Beginning on Jan 4 last, one of the main objectives of the fieldwork was to understand the unique Khasi matrilineal society with respects to anthropological assets of the tribe.

Safety drill on NSSP organized

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Students, teachers and non-teaching staff of JNK School Itanagar took part in a safety drill organized as part of the National School Safety Programme (NSSP) at the school's campus here on Thursday.

The drill was conducted by a team of E-Coy 12th Bn NDRF, Itanagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Team Commander of E-Coy 12th Bn NDRF, C S Bal said that safety drills prepare students and staff to respond appropriately to numerous emergencies. 'Preparing for the safety drill involves making sure all staff, including substitute teachers, know the plan and that students are reassured, not frightened, by the process', he added. (DIPRO)

Workshop on pay fixation method

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: The Directorate of Audit and Pension, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh conducted two-day long workshop on pay fixation method at Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Naharlagun in view of the implementation of Revised Pay Rule - 2016, effective from January 1, 2016.

The workshop held on January 10 and 11 last, was conducted in two batches for all the departments located in Capital Complex, including Doimukh and Banderdewa. The total number of participants was 165.

Md. A. Basit, Director of Audit and Pension and Taniyang Tatung, Finance and Accounts Officer conducted the workshop.

Dambuk team wins district-level traditional dance competition

ROING, Jan 12: The dance team from Dambuk circle was declared winner of a district-level traditional dance competition organized by the Vivekananda Kendra Arunjyoti in collaboration with VKV Roing here on Thursday.

A total of three teams from Koronu, Roing and Dambuk circles took part in the programme which was organized to commemorate National Youth Day.

The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 15,000.

DRCHO, Dr. Raju Mena, Nagar Sanchalak, Yasik Pertin and Nagar Pramukh, Sumila Linggi also attended the programme.

SDSU reminder to DC

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: The Siang District Students' Union (SDSU) has served a reminder to Siang Deputy Commissioner on its various demands for early fulfilment.

The students' union lamented that despite submission of several memorandum and ultimatum to concern authorizes, no fruitful action has been initiated yet showing utter negligence to genuine issues and demands of the union.

Some of the major demands of the union are; immediate posting of doctors and other medical staff at CHC Boleng, posting of Circle Officer, Medical Officer and other staff at Payum Circle, instruction to BRO for early completion of Bilie to Migging Defence road, immediate enquiry into CSS, SS and BADP Schemes implemented during 2010 to 2016 and instruction for proper implementation of the schemes, immediate posting of teachers at Govt. Middle School, Payum and doctors at Primary Health Centre Payum, to evict illegal land encroachers in school premises.

50 join skill development training

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: In all, 50 youths joined a two-month long training on handloom & handicrafts under component of DAY-NULM employment through skill training & placement at Tawang on Thursday.

Addressing the trainees, UD & Housing Deputy Director, VP Singh and AUPO, Gyati Tama encouraged them to be sincere to get skilled to become self reliant.

The training is being imparted by National Youth Project coordinator, Tapan Biswas and sponsored by State Urban Livelihood Mission.

Jeke chosen for NYP Ntl Youth Award-2017

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti (AVYS) Chairman, Ramesh Jeke has been selected by the National Youth Project (NYP) for its National Youth Award-2017, which will be conferred to him on February 7 next, in recognition of his humanitarian work.

This was announced during the National Youth Day-2017 celebrations at RKMH Vivekananda Hall here on Thursday.

Addressing a huge gathering of youth on the occasion, Capital DC, S K Singh cited the example of about 25 road accidents on December 31 night in Capital Complex wherein three youths needed three units each blood. The blood units were supplied by AVYS volunteers led by Chairman, Ramesh Jeke reflecting their sense of humanity, he lauded.

The AVYS so far has facilitated 37,856 units collection voluntarily, saved about over 20,000 lives including 1,657 on calls from hospitals that earned Union Health Minister-NACO Award of Excellence-2016 for Arunachal Govt., its adviser Pradeep Kumar disclosed.

In all 30 units of blood from 37 donors consisting of ITBP jawans, were collected by a medical team led by SBTC deputy director, Dr. Nabam Budh that marked the occasion.

Skill training

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: A two-month long skill training for beneficiaries in healthcare sector under Govt. of India scheme "Employment through Skill Training Placement (EST&P) Component of DAY-NULM", commenced on Tuesday at Tago Memorial Institute of Science & Hospital, Nirjuli, conducted by Joy7 Foundation, an Itanagar-based NGO.

A total of 28 trainees are attending the programme implemented by UD & Housing Department's state Urban Livelihoods Mission (SULM) in collaboration with Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC).

Addressing the inaugural function, Joy7 Foundation Chairperson, Toko Margina stressed on the importance of development employable skill and knowledge for self-reliance. She advised all the trainees to avail the benefits of the scheme which are free of cost.

Joy7 foundation has been appointed as the Project Implementation Agency by the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India for implementation of the Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gramin Kaushal Yojana (DDU-GKY), she informed.

Joy7 Foundation's project head, SK Yadav informed that the objective of DAY-NULM's employment through skill training and placement programme is to help urban-poor to acquire skills for sustainable livelihood and to increase their income through structured and market oriented certified courses that can provide employment or help in self employment.

Former Chairman of Joy7 Foundation, Toko Onuj appealed to all stake holders to concentrate on gaining skills that will help them get employment opportunity in healthcare sector.

Chairman Tago Memorial Institute of Science & Hospitals, Talo Potom, also spoke on the occasion and exhorted the trainees to make best use of the platform and acquire employable knowledge from the expert trainers.

Difficult time

The recent allegation made by a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier in a Facebook videos alleging bad food for the troops has caused huge embarrassment to government of India. The present BJP regime which harps on hyper nationalism and often uses security forces for political gain, need to pay serious attention to the allegation leveled by the BSF jawan. The video has exposed the ugly truth of corrupt practice in the armed forces. It should be thoroughly investigated and no one should be spared. Generally citizens assume armed forces to be disciplined and free from corruption.

Therefore when such allegation surfaces it has potential to hurt people’s trust on them. These jawans protect nation by putting everything at stake including their lives. They deserve best of the facilities. Even as nation were still debating the allegation of BSF jawan, another video surfaced on Thursday in which a constable of the CRPF posted a message to the PM on YouTube, alleging discrimination compared to the army and abysmal pay. This latest video will further add to the worry of establishment. Government will have to intervene at the earliest and take matter in their stride. For years these jawans has been facing discrimination and had no place to voice their opinion. But now they are taking advantage of social media and raising their voices. The two incidents also raise concern over disciplinary issue in the armed forces. Government will have to walk on a tightrope and deal with such situation.

The nature of cheap dynastic politics among both regional and national parties of India is making a mockery of the Indian democracy and her monumental independence struggle across the world. The brutal fight for the top political jobs across the Indian states through the length and breadth of the nation is showing the stinking, skeleton of the hard earned Indian democracy and showing the weak spots of this great republic. The federal structure of India is being questioned, judiciary ridiculed, economy hurt and parliamentary proceedings stalled for no strong grounds. The problem for India is that too many national or regional leaders with or without necessary experience or qualification aspiring to become Chief Minister of a State or target the hot seat of the Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy. But the number of available vacancies is too little to fulfill their fathomless desires and ambitions. Amidst this chaos, what is being buried is the golden opportunities of the growth of the nation, her economy and the ambitions of the ordinary citizens. None of the political parties or political leaders care for that other than their own selfish goals. This is proving to be self-destructive for the national interest. India is faced with the challenges of an evil China-Pakistan nexus that aims at harming the national in any or every possible way. Instead of uniting the nation is disintegrating for cheap political gains. The nation is crying for more direct foreign investments; but due to the growing political chaos and instability many big investors will be forced to move their focus and interest in investing in India and help the nation grow, create more jobs and empower the nation with better and infrastructural opportunities. The politicians irrespective of their political lines are not going to be impacted by these as they all have big foreign bank accounts offshore to secure their golden future, but the ordinary citizens of India are going to be impacted by this political instability. They are the worst sufferer and their interest is not at all protected. India needs another Anna Hajare national movement to force politicians and parliamentarians to work towards their commitment for the Indian democracy. Anyone who does not attend parliament or stops parliamentary proceedings on useless grounds should be socially and politically boycotted. Unless the people of the nation wake up, protest and strongly ask for their hard earned democratic rights the ruckus in Indian politics will continue to harm the broader interests of the nation.

Awaiting justice

Dear Editor,

It is going to be five months tomorrow since my husband, Dysp Bomto Kamdak, was shot at and killed at Chayangtajo, East Kameng.

As we wait for justice, a New Year has dawned on us all. Life goes on, they say, but how do we move on after an incident like this happens?

We could try. We shall try. But the future scares me. What do I tell my son when he grows up? What do I tell him of his father? Of his killer?

Just like this crime was not the first for Tagyung Yangfo, likewise, it was not the first time my husband had risked his life for his duty. My husband, like many others, was a true policeman. But is it enough? Can a good policeman bring about change in the society? Our society?

As I go from pillar to post trying to ensure my husband and our family gets justice, I hope the rest of you too shall ponder on our loss and realise it is time we all share the responsibility to make our own society a better one. I hope the public of Arunachal will not forget my husband and his sacrifice as of now, not until he gets justice.

I would like to take this opportunity and thank ADC, Chayangtajo, EKSCWO team, WWO east kameng, Mothers Group, Changtam Anne, Yummy Mummy, Sahara Mothers Group, Sangtam Ajing SHG and the police team East Kameng, for helping and assisting us in organising an appeal from the family's behalf to the public of Chayangtajo on Dec 27 last, to come forward and share information regarding the criminal and to help the police nab the criminal.

It was very encouraging to have you all by our sides. Someone rightly said that day, a single man should not be allowed to tarnish the image of the whole area. I thank you all.

Department of Directorate of Economic and Statistics has advertised a post of field investigators on 7 November 2016.

Till now there is no news regarding exam date and issue of admit card.
